Can I Share Something with You? My Journey of Blogging and Podcasting with God by My Side

Today I had a great conversation with my next podcast guest that got me thinking more about what I'm creating here, on the webs. When I started blogging again, I put together a mission statement and re-designed my website with a very vague picture of what I really want to do. I knew it was time to get back to writing and creating content, something I love but have put off for the past few years due to moving, moving, more moving, raising a baby and then toddler, being a "single parent" while Scott lived in PA and I lived in MO, and all the crazy things that have been our lives the last some odd years. (Honestly, when has it not been crazy?)

My Journey of Blogging and Podcasting--God's Directive

Actually, the biggest reason I started blogging again and then started the podcast was because I felt prompted to start--over the course of months actually. I felt Heavenly Father leading me to start creating content again, but I put it off. I didn't know what I really wanted to do with it, what I wanted to write. Finally, after more and more promptings, I listened and went in blindly, giving it over to the Lord. I would write and podcast not really knowing what the goal was other than to put something out that God wanted me to.

It's been an incredible journey. I've been happily surprised by what has come from my mind, fingertips, and mouth as I've received guidance from the Lord. I don't know if my posts and episodes have helped anyone, but they have helped me. I've enjoyed creating, writing, and sharing.

The Hard

But it has been hard too. I'm used to plans. I worked in marketing communications for years. Planning is what I do. I'm used to knowing the purpose, putting together the scope, dotting all the I-s...

My social media presence has been abysmal as I've started all this back up again. I've been unsure what to post and how to make everything feel cohesive. With blog posts and podcasts I sit down right before I begin and pray. Then I do whatever the Lord directs me to do. It's worked. But only because I allow myself a small window to work on everything each week. How do I do that with social media when I should be posting everyday?

I digress.

I'm not here to complain. I'm here to share. And for some reason, this is what is coming out today, after a really good prayer.

So what is the purpose of this post, really? Why are you here reading it?

I hope you're interested in my journey. But, more importantly, I hope you're interested in you're journey.

My Goal

As I talked with my next podcast guest, a few things occurred to me:

  1. I love creativity, and I love talking to others about creativity. I love hearing their journeys and learning why they love doing what they do.

  2. I believe we were created to create. As human beings, as women, we are meant to create in some form--singing, dancing, art, writing, yoga, weightlifting, nutrition, science, gardening, medical, and so much more. All these things we are interested in, where our passions are, they are our personal creative avenues, and we are meant to pursue them.

  3. I love life. I love learning about life and hearing about struggles and how people overcome them. I want to share more life stories.

  4. Our identity as daughters of God is our most important identity.

  5. God loves us.

How does all of this lead me to my goal? It helps me recognize what I like to share and what God has been leading me to share.

My goal is to help women recognize their potential, see themselves for who they are: daughters of God, inherent creators, beacons of light. I will do this through sharing what brings me joy and helps me recognize these things in myself: the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, yoga, writing, family, life, creativity, and more.

I don't really know what it will all look like. It's a journey, one I look to God to lead me on. And hopefully, those who need it will find it.

Thanks, always, for reading. I hope you always remember who you are most importantly: a child of God.
