Are My 2026 Resolutions Okay?

I have never been very good at setting New Year resolutions/goals. I actually wasn't going to set any this year. The thought of doing so completely escaped my mind. But when I started thinking about today's post, 2026 resolutions for the year came to mind. I wasn't sure about the thought at first cause I had no idea what I would put. Scott and I have goals we set and talk about every Monday night at our family council, but they aren't necessarily yearly or personal goals.
But the thought of writing this post felt good and important. So I sat down and came up with the following, which I actually feel really good about. Actually, I feel excited about these. They are all things I want to do, want to make happen. So setting them as this year's goal makes complete and perfect sense.
What do you think?

Are my 2026 resolutions okay?
Publish My Novel
I have been working on a full-length novel for the past six years, before Berkley was born. Before we moved to Missouri and all the crazy set in. It is a story I have had in my heart and mind for years, starting back to college days. And it's taken me a long time to write for many reasons.
But this year I vow to do it. I will publish it. I'm so close. The book is done, written. It just needs a bunch of editing and read throughs. And all the work that goes into publishing. But it will be done. I will see it in print form my the end of the year.
I better get working now.
Run a Successful Podcast
I launched my brand-new podcast, Life by Sara, New Year's Day. That's how committed I am to this thing. I want to see it go from January 1 to December 31, 2026. I want to keep my promise to myself and my listeners to publish a new episode twice a month. I want to invite guests on and tell real stories that people can connect with.
What does success look like for me with this podcast? Staying committed. Even when it gets hard. Even when I don't want to do it. Even when my confidence is low or I feel like no one cares or no one is listening. I want to keep going anyway. Success for me this year with Life by Sara looks like doing it anyway.
Dive Deeper into Yoga
I don't know if that means launching my yoga videos again. I would love to. I have plans to do it sometime in the future, whether this year or next, I'm not sure. But my resolution to dive deeper into yoga this year isn't about teaching. It's about learning and growing.
Five years ago I bought an online course to get 300 hours of yoga teaching certification. I currently have 200 and want to have the total 500 that many accredited teachers have. I have started the course many times but have not come anywhere close to finishing it.
This year I want to finish the course, yes, and I also want to learn more about the history and meditation parts of yoga. I want to become more rounded to further my own practice and maybe someday teach.
Read More Books
I have been in a weird reading slump since Berkley was born. It has been so hard for me to pick up a book and devote time to reading. Maybe it's cause every time I do, Berkley asks to play Barbies. Or maybe it's because life has been so crazy that every time I did pick up a book I felt guilty for not doing something else that needed attention.
I'm not going to let those things get in the way this year. Yes, I'll still fold my laundry and clean my house. I'll still play Barbies with Berks. But I'm also going to allow myself that wonderful relaxation time of soaking in a good book.
Adventure More
If anyone knows much about me it's that I love to explore new places and see new things. I love to travel near or far. I love museums, historical sites, nature, amusement parks, and all the travel things.
We currently live in Pennsylvania. Do you know how much history and beauty is around here, or even somewhat close by?
This year I want to do more and see more, even if it's to a local festival.
Things I'm truly hoping to do this year:
Visit Niagara Falls
Explore Philadelphia
Go to the Mr. Rogers museum here in Pittsburgh
Go on more nature walks (there's a lot of trails here)
Go see Adam Ondi-Ahman
Visit family
Let's Make 2026 the Best!
I feel pretty good about my goals for this year. And I hope that when December 31 comes I can say, "I did it. And what a great year!"
What are some of your 2026 goals?
